Hello. I'm a student at American University in Washington, DC, looking to go abroad during the spring semester, 2007, and Middlesex seemed an attractive option, according to a memory which is admittedly three or five months old.
How's the Writing program here? I'm hoping to be a writer when I get out of college, and American's writing program is a tad lackluster. Do you mostly discuss the classics, or are there classes dedicated to writing new ones, or books which will be resigned to the rubbish bin in twenty years, but are pretty good anyway?
How accessible is London from Middlesex? How much does it cost to get around? Is traveling to other places in England easy or hard?
How's the social life? Is there plenty of things to do which don't involve heavy drinking?

Hi! My name's Laura and I'll be coming to study illustration at Middlesex this fall. I don,t know if anyone here can answer my questions, but I'll go ahead and ask anyway. The scheduling is very different where I go to school (School of Visual Arts), and I'm curious as to how it works over there. At SVA, we take 15 credits a semester, so around 5 a semester with each class equaling about 3 credits, and each class meets once a week. I'll only be taking two classes while I'm at Middlesex. Do they meet two or three times a week? Is there a lot of independant study? I was totally baffled by the course numbers and descriptions (at SVA each class has a very detailed description personally written by the instructor, so the very uniform course/module descritions were strange to me.)
Okay, I'll stop rambling. Basically, can anybody tell me about weekly life for an illustration major? Also, any major advantages of one Cat Hill campus over another?

Hiya. I have been watching this site for some time now, and decided to join since I go to Middlesex University too. I go to the Hendon campus. I wanted to ask anyone out there, is it true that Cat campus students(I don't know the full name)are going to be joining Hendon?

I am thinking of applying to Middlesex for MA writing and I was wondering if you guys had any advice or anything about the uni, creative courses, the area or whatever to offer me?
Bit of background: I am a mature student (29) just finishing up on my BA Media Writing degree at Southampton and fancy a change really. I am also a single mum to my 8 year old boy...
